My Favorite Beauty Serum
My absolute favorite moisturizer (Young Living’s Sandalwood Moisture cream) went out of stock a couple of months ago so I whipped up a serum using things I had. Turns out I love the serum!
There are so many essential oil options you can add to your serum. I personally have loved this specific mix for my skin.
RECIPE:
10 drops Bloom essential oil blend
10 drops Frankincense essential oil
10 drops Lavender essential oil
fill 2/3 of the dropper bottle with organic jojoba oil and 1/3 of the bottle with organic castor oil (you can use jojoba oil only if you would like)
Let’s go a little more in depth with each ingredient in case you don’t already know the benefits.
Jojoba oil: This oil is a great choice for facial serums because it’s non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores, it hydrates, it softens skin because it contains vitamin e, it is anti-inflammatory, fades scars, and it’s very similar to our natural oil that our skin produces.
Castor oil: This is a new favorite of mine. I have been very impressed with the way it has smoothed out my skin’s texture. Similar to jojoba oil, hydrating, moisturizing, and it is anti-inflammatory. It is anti-microbial, meaning it may protect the skin from bacterial infections.
Frankincense essential oil: This essential oil has a long list of benefits but for this recipe I will highlight how amazing it is for skin! It is incredible for soothing irritated skin and smoothing out texture.
Lavender essential oil: This is such a calming oil - calming in so many ways but for this recipe, we are talking about calming the skin - patches of irritated or dry skin especially.
Bloom essential oil blend: This is a blend of Vetiver root oil, Blue cypress wood oil, Davana flower oil, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood oil, Clove bud oil, Jasmine oil, Carrot seed oil, Spearmint leaf extract, Geranium flower oil, Sacred frankincense resin oil. Vetiver is hydrating, Sandalwood is nourishing, Jasmine is a powerful antioxidant as well as anti-inflammatory, clove is cleansing, carrot seed oil helps protect skin from sun damage, spearmint is known to cleanse and prevent infections and is anti-inflammatory, Gernium encourages skin to regenerate cells more quickly, and Sacred Frankincense is incredible for balancing skin tone, antimicrobial, and is anti-inflammatory.
This facial serum super easy to make and very affordable! You can grab the essential oils here.
Add the essential oils then fill the bottle with jojoba oil and castor oil. Make sure you have enough space in the bottle for the dropper to fit or else it will overflow.
I use this serum after I wash my face with Manuka honey. I also love using it with my gua sha tool to work out tension in my face. You can use this serum for oil cleansing if you like that technique.
